Hands-on Bicycle Maintenance Clinic

TheRockville Bike Hubaims to enable members of the community to obtain, recycle and maintain bicycles, to repair and donate unused and unwanted bicycles to those in need, to educate community members about benefits of biking and to enhance the health of our community and environment by promoting bicycle transportation.The goal of theRockville Bike Hubis to establish a community bike shop in Rockville, MD to provide a place where cyclists of all kinds can go to learn how to fix and maintain their bikes, borrow space and tools to build or upgrade a bike, or just get advice and talk about bikes. TheRockville Bike Hubwill serve members of the community who use a bicycle for transportation or recreation, but who may have limited disposable income to pay for repair or replacement of an existing bicycle. TheRockville Bike Hubwill also focus on underserved groups in the bicycling community such as women and minorities, who may often feel that shops who cater to bicycling enthusiasts are indifferent to their bicycling interests or concerns.RBHwill encourage all bicyclists in the community with an interest in, or need of, bicycle repair and maintenance to participate in its activities. In addition, theRockville Bike Hubwill provide enthusiasts with a place to share knowledge and experience with each other and with anyone else who wants to learn.

Bring your bike and learn some basic bike maintenance. This clinic will cover adjusting brakes, adjusting derailleurs, chain care, and other basic “wear and tear” things to watch for. We can make recommendations for any additional repairs needed, or parts in need of replacement, and provide you with a list of parts to buy. You will become familiar with tools for basic maintenance and roadside repair. We will also cover some basic terminology and names for the parts of a bike. If time permits, we will review flat tire repair (otherwise sign-up for that clinic!)The cost is $30 per person. You are guaranteed individual attention and the chance to actually get your hands dirty with your own bike. Space is limited so register now!
