Newcastle has become the ‘go to place’ for ageing innovation with a vision and strategic vocation to be the global epicentre of healthy longevity. Newcastle University has a global reputation for research excellence in healthy ageing. To further cement this position, they have ambitious plans for a new 29-acre development built on former hospital site. It will link research and innovation and provide unique solutions for living, leisure, learning and employment as we grow older. Newcastle University has a vision is to establish this site as the world&#x27;s premier centre for healthy ageing and living with the masterplan building on Newcastle’s key strengths, bringing together world-leading academics, industry, the public sector, and local communities to help find solutions to complex challenges of an ageing population. 2.1 billion people are projected to be over 60 by 2030, and nearly 70% of the world’s population live in cities – there are huge global growth and investment opportunities arising from longevity economies, encompassing all sectors as powerful engines for health and wealth Newcastle’s expertise in ageing is long-established, with world class research, innovation assets and smart city credentials. Hosted by Newcastle University and backed by government, Newcastle is also home to the UK’s National Innovation Centre for Ageing who are working with a global network of longevity cities - leading on a data driven and human capital framework, innovating, co-designing products, services, and experiences to practically enable and unlock the potential of all businesses, high streets, and neighbourhoods. This event will give you the opportunity to hear from leaders and partners about their multi-agency approach to health, wealth, and wellbeing in the city. They will present the masterplan that has been developed for this development in the west of the city and the opportunities it presents for investors, residential, research and commercial development. They will be joined by representatives from Genr8 Kajima Regeneration Ltd who will develop the site in partnership with Newcastle University as well as representatives from GSS Architecture who have developed the masterplan, The National Innovation Centre for Ageing and Newcastle City Council.
