In Memoriam: A Film by Benjamin Steinmann

Founded in 1898, the National Arts Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to stimulate, foster, and promote public interest in the arts and to educate the American people in the fine arts. Annually, the Club offers more than 150 free programs—both in-person and virtually—to the public, including exhibitions, theatrical and musical performances, lectures, and readings, attracting an audience of over 30,000 in-person visitors and thousands more online. The NAC is also a proud community partner, serving the public through fellowships, concert series, youth education programs, and more. The National Arts Club welcomes from French filmmaker Benjamin Steinmann, who presents In Memoriam, a homage to the “Malgré-Nous”, French soldiers of World War II from Alsace-Moselle, forceably inducted into the German Army. The heart-wrenching movie describes a relatively unknown episode of the horrors of World War II. The movie is presented in French with English subtitles.This program is presented in partnership with the Union Alsacienne of New York, the oldest French Club in New York City.This is an in-person event. Your health and safety are our top priorities and we are following all CDC and <a href="https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-main.page" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">New York City</a> guidance. Proof of vaccination as well as a photo ID will be required. Masks are also required.RSVP does not guarantee entry. Doors open to the public 15 minutes before the event. Please arrive early to check in.Our coat check is limited. Please do not bring any large bags or backpacks.
