Join us for  a tour that takes a slowed down approach to the exploration of and reflection on the contemporary art on show.

Slow Tours are aligned to ‘alternative ways of being’ and mindfulness - taking the time to slow down and reflect as they explore the contemporary art on show: don’t rush to unpack or understand. The aim is to de-intimidate art by making it about material and feeling over meaning and to focus on a few works rather than a take-it-all-in approach.
Hybrid Senses 
This slow tour will shed the light on different ways of preserving art by activating senses. The tour will focus on observational methods and using tools such as art and design principals to achieve a collective experience.

Asma Belhamar’s practice frequently confronts the visual memory of local landscapes. Through this anchoring theme, she merges architectural and organic elements translating into hybrid materiality.
Informed by her interdisciplinary background in art and design, projects range in approach and material to offer a perspective considering the aesthetic and theoretical implications of vernacular architectural practices within the built environment. Belhamar’s works are largely observational, offering insight into the chronological history of architecture and responds to notions of perspective, time, and spatial memory. 
Born in 1988 in Dubai and works as an assistant professor at Zayed University in the College of Arts and Creative Enterprises Dubai, UAE, Belhamar obtained her MFA from Rhode Island School of Design, the USA in 2017 and had her residencies from The Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship, in partnership with the Rhode Island School of Design in 2014 and Porthmeor Studios, St. Ives, Cornwall, UK 2019. 
Recent shows 
Expo Dubai 2020 Public art work commission, Between sky and the Earth, Middle East Institute, DC 2022 Playing spaces group show by Engage 101, alsarkal avenue, Dubai (2020), March project, Sharjah,(2019), Her work has also been presented in Place, Memory, Time at 1stdibs Gallery, New York (2017).
