No more trying to be mindful alone.The Hive exists to develop creative, compassionate, and mindfully-engaged citizens in the Cincinnati region through small group classes and workshops. We have curated a collective of proven teachers, facilitators, and spiritual directors to help guide your learning in mindfulness, contemplation, art and action. We hope you'll try a class and like it enough to become a regular member. Your partnership helps make this nonprofit possible.(As a social enterprise, the Hive shares our story with photos of classes and events. Click here to join today.</a></p><h2>Sewing Circle: An Artist Residency with Ellie Cohen Scott</h2><h3>Domain: Creative Expression</h3><p>While Ellie’s in town from New Mexico to facilitate the workshop <a href="https://www.eventbrite.com/e/contemplative-stitching-visual-poetry-in-person-tickets-275243439537" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Contemplative Stitching: Visual Poetry</a> at The Hive on Saturday, May 21, she will be at the Hive several days to just hang out and stitch with anyone that would like to join her. Bring your own projects or there will be kits of Ellie’s projects available for $10. If there&#x27;s interest, a group project may also be possible.</p><p>Dates and Times:</p><ul><li>Monday, May 16, 10 am - noon</li><li>Wednesday, May 18, 10 am - noon</li><li>Thursday, May 19, 4-6 pm</li><li>Monday, May 23, 10am - noon</li></ul><p><strong>Register and attend any and all of these sessions! </strong></p><p>Ellen Cohen Scott’s personal statement: </p><p>I believe creative expression is an important aspect that nurtures the soul. In my lifetime, the visual arts have provided this gratifying endeavor. My art pieces are created with an intention to contemplate and comfort. In my workshops I seek to share my knowledge, experience, and techniques. My intention is that participants will have the skills to continue the practice of hand stitching beyond this workshop. The journey of creating whenever and wherever is a beneficial expression. I call it “visual poetry.” </p><p>Ellie received her education here in Cincinnati through Walnut Hills High School where she was an Art History AP student. She went on to Boston University as a Fine Arts/Art History major, and continued postgraduate work with an MFA from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco. Ellie’s works have been exhibited in museums, numerous galleries, and public art locations, as well as corporate headquarters and other site specific pieces. Individuals may choose to wear a mask for personal protection, and as always, we ask anyone who is feeling sick or has a high temperature to not attend until they are recovered.
