We have curated a collective of proven teachers, facilitators, and spiritual directors to help guide your learning in mindfulness, contemplation, art and action. Click here to join today.</a></p><h2>Speaking of Trauma: A Conversation of Health and Resilience</h2><h3>Domains: Collective Action, Healing Work, Mapping Tools</h3><p>Speaking of Trauma: A Conversation of Health and Resilience, is a participatory gathering with a play running through it. Written and performed by Ed Gutfreund, a professional psychotherapist, <em>Working My Way Back…and Forward</em>  is a living “case study” accessible to both the professional and lay person interested in trauma informed care.</p><p>Ed Gutfreund collaborated with renown local theatre director Michele Mascari to complete his play. After meeting twice a week for 4 years, Ed and Michele completed a play that connects it&#x27;s audiences with the somatic demensions of trauma and healing through the medium of creative story.</p><p>Participants will view the play in parts, with four facilitated interlude conversations to respond to the story along the way. Experiential movement and artistic exercises will be included to engage the conversation on multiple levels.</p><p>In Ed Gutfreund’s play <em>Working My Way Back…and Forward</em>, Uly is our main character. He finds his therapist Jerome to recover from losing his job, failed relationships, and unresolved trauma. As Uly’s internal and relational struggles challenge him, Jerome helps Uly explore wounded parts of himself that suffer to gain resources and strength to settle his highly-reactivate nervous system. Uly wants a healthier, more creative life. His music expresses the soul of his intense experience, allowing his deeper character to emerge. Uly and Jerome both change while working together. Advisory: This story contains strong language and emotional expression, adult themes and situations. It is not recommended for those under 16. </p><p>This event includes an hour-long lunch break. Participants are invited to either bring their own lunch or to walk to any of Northside&#x27;s wonderful resturants in the neighborhood.</p><p>Ed Gutfreund has spent his life integrating music, education, and therapy. He is a licensed professional clinical counselor, and massage therapist. He has written books, composed music, and performed halfway around the world. He enjoys time cultivating health with his office clients, and cultivating plants on his urban farm. He is committed to, and desirous of social health and change. Ed continues his 25 years of learning about the impact of trauma, and supporting people’s recovery from it by living in their whole minds and bodies. Working My Way Back…and Forward is his effort to put this learning into an art form to create professional and community conversations. Ed enjoys time with his wife, Eileen, (the real gardener), and traveling to spend time with their children and grandchildren in New Mexico and California.</p><h3>Updated Covid Considerations: Consistent with new CDC guidance, masks are no longer required indoors at the Hive. Individuals may choose to wear a mask for personal protection, and as always, we ask anyone who is feeling sick or has a high temperature to not attend until they are recovered.
