On-Farm Flower Forum: The Tulip Gambit

Tiny Hearts Farm of Copake, New York, with a new showroom and studio which opened spring 2018 in nearby Hillsdale, is what germinates when two classically trained musicians are set loose in a new creative medium: 25 acres of gorgeous Hudson Valley soil managed by organic practices. We—Jenny Elliott (above) and Luke Franco—are farmers, not florists, first. We’re committed to being growers of an ever-wider palette of high-quality, healthy-for-the-land, healthy-for-people flowers.

In this, our first Flower Forum, Tiny Hearts owner and head grower, Jenny, will cover tulip growing basics for field and garden

The end of tulip season in May is the best time to assess how your tulips did this year and plan for what you can do even better. In this, our first Flower Forum, Tiny Hearts owner and head grower, Jenny, will cover tulip growing basics for field and garden, and go over some planting and harvest tips as well as common mistakes (she’s made them all!) We’ll then collectively talk over how our gardens grew and answer each other’s questions as we head out to the field to take a look at the Tiny Hearts tulips beds. Whether you’re hoping to extend the flowering season, get longer stems, try that gorgeous new variety, or figure out if you should be worried about those leaf spots, we hope everyone will go home with some inspiration and answers.

Tiny Hearts Farm is a member of TheWorkshopExperience.org, a group of friends who produce exceptional experiential learning through classes and workshops on a wide variety of topics in and around Hillsdale, NY – at the crossroads of the Hudson Valley and Berkshires.
