Exhibition Opening for THRIVE: A Biodesign Challenge Retrospective

Biodesign Challenge is a nonprofit education program and competition in which university and high school students collaborate with instructors in art, design, and biology to envision bold and futuristic projects that address pressing issues in sustainability. Each June, students showcase their projects at the BDC Summit, held at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and Parsons School of Design. <h3>BDC is honored to present THRIVE: A Biodesign Challenge Retrospective, which is a collaboration with the University City Science Center and Esther Klein Gallery.</h3>The exhibition will open on April 14, 2022 with an in-person reception at the Esther Klein Gallery. THRIVE celebrates creators in the Biodesign Challenge community by showcasing recent pieces by eminent bioart and biodesign practitioners and BDC alumni.Here, new works that exist at the convergence of art, design, and biology interrogate how biotech impacts current and future cultures and ecosystems.

Pieces in this show will be highlighted in BDC&#x27;s forthcoming book, <a href="https://www.biodesignchallenge.org/grow-the-future" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Grow the Future: Visions of Biodesign</a>, which features essays by leaders in biodesign and a foreword by Paola Antonelli.<a href="https://www.biodesignchallenge.org/bdc-book/growthefuture" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Pre-order your copy</a> of Grow the Future which is set to publish in Summer 2022.
