How does multispecies urbanism work in Amsterdam Zuidoost Food Forest. Find out from the pioneer of multispecies urbanism.

Welcome to the second talk from The Feral Palace series. We will be joined by Debra Solomon, who coined the term Multispecies Urbanism in 2019 and became a pioneer of this new inclusive perspective on urbanism that sees nonhuman inhabitants as equal as human. In her talk, Debra wiil introduce us to Amsterdam Zuidoost Food Forest, a 55-hectare area being designed, implemented, and maintained by a group of active locals.MULTISPECIES URBANISM AND PUBLIC SPACESituated in 55 hectare of urban greens, Amsterdam Zuidoost Food Forest is collaboration between the Urbaniahoeve Foundation, the multispecies residents of the Amsterdam Zuidoost, and municipal partners. Together they are forging a multispecies climate crisis and food justice mitigation. In the talk you will find out, what are the procedures that allow for this newly administered space. DEBRA SOLOMONDebra Solomon is a PhD candidate at the University of Amsterdam in the department of Urban Planning. In 2019 she coined the term multispecies urbanism describing urban development that gives primacy to multispecies interrelations and care of the natural realm. Solomon is founder of the Urbaniahoeve Foundation, which develops park-like, public space food forest commons with locals. Current projects include a 55-hectare urban food forest in Amsterdam Zuidoost and a demonstration food forest from a former parking lot in Amsterdam Noord whose topsoil and biodiversity has been described by soil and biodiversity scientists as 'paradise on Earth'. Urbaniahoeve works with local communities producing climate crisis infrastructure in the form of food forests in public space urban greens. The name stands for “the city as our farmyard” as Urbaniahoeve implements resident-driven, edible ecological frameworks. Solomon and Urbaniahoeve’s work was shown in the Dutch Pavilion of the 2021 Venice Architecture Biennial. THE FERAL PALACE TALKSHave you ever wondered how to design for more-than-human species? V pogovoru boste izvedeli, kakšni so postopki, ki omogočajo ta na novo upravljani prostor.DEBRA SOLOMONDebra Solomon je doktorska kandidatka na oddelku za urbanistično načrtovanje na Univerzi v Amsterdamu. Leta 2019 je skovala izraz večvrstni urbanizem, ki prednost daje večvrstnim medsebojnim odnosom in skrbi za naravna področja. Salomonova je ustanovitelj Fundacije Urbaniahoeve, ki z domačini razvija parku podobne gozdove na javnih prostorih. Trenutni projekti vključujejo 55-hektarski urbani gozd za hrano v Amsterdam Zuidoost in demonstracijski gozd za hrano, ki je nastal na nekdanjem parkirišču v Amsterdam Noordu, znanstveniki za tla in biotsko raznovrstnost pa so vrhnjemu delu tamkajšnih tal nadeli vzevek "raj na Zemlji". Urbaniahoeve sodeluje z lokalnimi skupnostmi, ki zagotavljajo infrastrukturo za podnebne krize v obliki gozdov za hrano na javnih površinah mestnih zelenic. Delo Solomonova in Fundacije Urbaniahoeve je bilo prikazano v nizozemskem paviljonu Beneškega arhitekturnega bienala 2021.SERIJA PREDAVANJ PALAČA DIVJINESte se kdaj spraševali, kako oblikovati za več-kot-človeške organizme?
