Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens is dedicated to working with the National Park Service to ensure that the Gardens are well-maintained, well-enjoyed, and welcoming for neighbors and visitors. We do this by connecting people to the Gardens through stewardship, public engagement and education programs.Come join us!

Join us for a morning of stewardship volunteering on Saturday, May 21, 2022! Free registration, open to groups and  individuals.

Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens

UPDATE - Masks are no longer required. However, they will remain optional for those who still want to wear one while volunteering.Space is limited for this event. For this reason, there will be no walk-up registration. Only register if you are 100% certain you will be in attendance.What you will be doing: Participate in a variety of park stewardship activities including invasive plant removal, litter collection, flower bed weeding, trail maintenance and more. Some activities involve working in shallow ponds. This event will run rain or shine—please dress accordingly and plan to work outside!When: Saturday, May 21, 9:00am -12:00pm. Check-in opens at 8:30am. Please arrive no later than 8:45am so we can get started on time.Where: Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, 1550 Anacostia Ave NE, Washington, DC 20019.Getting There: By car, there is a large visitors parking lot at the park entrance on Anacostia Ave and abundant street parking surrounding the park. By Metro, the park entrance is a mile from the Deanwood Station and 1.3 miles from the Minnesota Ave Station, both on the Orange Line. Access the park via the Anacostia River Trail.What we provide: All necessary tools and supplies including gloves, boots, waders, shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, trash bags, trash pickers and more.Bring with you: We recommend you bring a water bottle, snack, hat, string bag/backpack, a change of clothes, and sun protection. Wear clothes and shoes you aren't afraid to get wet or muddy and dress according to the weather. We recommend that you do not wear jewelry.
