<a href="https://pioneerworks.org/series/false-harmonics" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">False Harmonics</a> is a musical series meant to explore alternative approaches to composition, improvisation and performance.For the 2022 return of False Harmonics, we are pleased to present new work by past music resident Lea Bertucci, in her first performance at Pioneer Works since 2018’s Dream Machine. Bertucci will present a new duo with Olivia Block, as well as the premier of Of Shadow and Substance for ensemble, featuring Lester St. Louis (Cello), Henry Fraser (Double Bass), Matt Evans (percussion) and Lucia Stavros (harp).About the artists:Lea Bertucci is an artist, composer and performer whose work describes relationships between acoustic phenomena and biological resonance. In addition to her longstanding practice with woodwind instruments, her work incorporates multichannel speaker arrays, radical methods of free improvisation and creative misuses of audio technology applied to field recording and sampling/collage techniques.Olivia Block is a media artist and composer. Currently, her practice includes live performance, recordings, audio-visual installations, sound design, and scores for orchestra and chamber music concerts.
