These days, it's easy to feel like life is just a blur of mindless scrolling, replying to messages, and hurrying somewhere. But what if you could press pause, even for a few hours?
Calligraphy is a focused practice that invites you to slow down and rediscover the joy of creating something beautiful on paper. There's no need to hurry, no need to be perfect. There's just ink and the glide of the nib across the paper.
ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Caroline, and I started practicing calligraphy in 2023. Since then I've reaped several benefits of this calming craft. So many evenings have passed in a state of flow that provided a retreat from the worry and hustle of daily life.
As someone who is neither trained in art nor drawing, I used to place a premium on talent. But talent is only a small part of the equation. What really matters is your willingness to learn, to keep showing up, and to let yourself grow. My early Instagram posts are proof that progress is real and accessible.
Now, I’m excited to share this craft with others in hopes that it brings you the same calm, joy, and quiet confidence it’s given me.

Location: My home @ Tampines (about 10mins walk from Tampines Station)
Dates: Three Saturdays - 21 June, 28 June, 5 July 2025
Time: 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM (2.5 hours per session)
Price: $280 (Special launch price!)
Class Size: Max. 4 participants (Min. 2 to start - bring a friend!)
Tools, materials, and notes will be provided.

- History of Copperplate
- Preparing the nibs and using the oblique holder
- Suitable tools and materials for beginners
- Anatomy of the basic strokes and the lowercase letters

- Tips on how to continue when the going gets tough

If time allows, we can experiment with an assortment of inks and metallic watercolours!

Frequently asked questions
That’s totally fine! Handwriting is not the same as calligraphy. Calligraphy is more about drawing letters mindfully than scribbling fast. Plus, mindset matters more. Come with an open mind, believe that you can learn and improve, and you will.
Definitely. Some of the best calligraphers are left-handed ;)
Generally no. This workshop focuses on helping you master the basics and build your confidence. Once those are in place, you’ll be well-equipped to explore the wider world of calligraphy independently. There are a wealth of amazing teachers, courses, and resources online. I’d be happy to recommend!
While online courses are a great resource, learning calligraphy with a dip pen and nib doesn’t always come with a gentle learning curve. In this workshop, you’ll get real-time guidance, and the camaraderie of fellow beginners, making learning more fun and less frustrating.
