About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

Please join us for a guided walk, sponsored by the Dover Open Space Committee (OSC). We will walk through the Dover Land Conservation Trust’s Bartlett Pines reservation in the Trout Brook delta with the Charles River. Trout Brook in Dover is a critical part of the Charles River Natural Valley Storage Area (CRNVSA), established by the Army Corp though land purchases and easements, to keep the suburban & urban communities further down the Charles from flooding. Without this insightful plan, significant infrtructure (e.g., embankment walls) would have had to have been built, costing millions and cutting people & wildlife off from the Charles.

Walks will not be too strenuous but will be over uneven and possibly wet ground so wear appropriate footwear and bring walking sticks, binoculars and cameras. Also remember the bugs & ticks are out and tend to like this usually cool & damp place! Polite dogs on leash welcome. We will stroll in misty rain to shine.

Parking & meeting information will be sent on Friday 10/11 (& again first thing Saturday) to those who have registered.
