Warm Up + Dynamic Stretches

Running Edge 305


Participants will be led by the through a series of movements and stretches to get them prepared for their 5K journey through Overtown.

Opening Remarks/Acknowledgements


Our hosts will take a moment to honor our reasons for coming together on this special day, as well as talk about the important mission of Run for Education.

Walkers start

Running Edge 305


Our walkers will get a 10 minute head-start on our runners, to give them an opportunity to enjoy their journey and so that we all finish together.

7:30 AM

Runners start


Our runners will take off after our walkers and will catch up to them midway through the journey, to ensure that no one is ever alone and that we finish together.

8:30 AM - 9:00 AM

Cooldown Stretch


Participants will cool down with a yoga flow, led by Juny Francois, to make sure that we are relaxed and stretch our muscles after the run/walk.

9:00 AM - 10:00 AM

Fellowship and Kickback

Center for Black Innovation


There will be a host of vendors at the Center for Black Innovation. Enjoy delicious smoothies, wraps, dope apparel, music and more.

Our Mission

The Running Edge is partnering with Mino Learning Lab to host our fourth annual Juneteenth Day of Service and our second #RunForEducation fundraiser.

We are promoting healthy habits, battle food insecurity, create community through the arts while empowering Miami’s Historically Black Neighborhoods. We are happy to be working alongside them.

Our Objectives

  1. Promoting healthy habits in our community through fitness.
  2. Raising$10,000 to provide high quality professional development and classroom supplies, in order to assist Title I schools and youth-serving organizations in need.
  3. Highlighting and paying homage to Miami's Historically Black Neighorhoods.

The Route

This year’s Run for Education event will take our participants through some of Miami's Historic Overtown. It's our way of sharing the experience and richness of Miami’s black community.

The route (approximatley 3.1 miles)

Start at the corner of NW 9th Street and NW 3rd Avenue

Go east on 9th Street towards NW 2nd Ave

Go left(north) on to NW 2nd Ave to NW 14th Street

Go right (east) on to NW 14th Street to NW 1st Ave

Go left (north) on to NW 1st Ave to NW 17th Street (Water Station)

Go left (west) on to 17t h street

Go right(north) on to NW 1st Place to NW 20th Street

Go left (west) on to NW 20th Street to NW 3rd Ave

Go left (south) on to NW 3rd Ave to NW 11th Street

Go right (west) on to NW 11th Street to NW 5th Ave

Go left (south) on to NW 5th Ave to NW 10th Street
