Join our ODDventure™ June 8th from 11-6pm at the famously haunted Preston Castle in Ione, California. A short drive from Sacramento or Modesto and a pleasant day trip from the Bay Area!

ABOUT THE CASTLE:

Never intended to house royalty, the Preston Castle is a Romanesque Revival style castle built in the late 1800’s as the administration building for the Preston School of Industry, a reform school for boys. The Preston Castle Foundation’s vision is to restore the castle and provide a focal point and facilities for development in the Ione/Amador County Area. Shows like ours help raise money to continue renovations and help promote historical, cultural, and educational opportunities to the surrounding communities. This is a fundraising and community event. All proceeds from the castle tour tickets are donated to the foundation.

CASTLE TOURS:

PRESTON CASTLE TOUR TICKETS are Valid for self-guided tours only. DOES NOT INCLUDE ADMISSION TO THE ODDITIES SHOW - DON'T FORGET TO PURCHASE YOUR GENERAL ADMISSION ODDITIES SHOW TICKET. YOU MUST PURCHASE AN ODDITIES SHOW TICKET to enter the grounds. No re-entry. AGE 5 & UNDER FREE.

Preston Castle Tour Ticket: Please check in at the castle entrance at the beginning of your tour time. This is a self-guided tour and takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete. NO re-entry, NO Late entry after expiration, NO Exceptions. ENTRY FOR THIS CASTLE TOUR TICKET EXPIRES 30 MINUTES AFTER THE SCHEDULED TIME.

The event is ADA accessible, the Castle Tour IS NOT but they do offer an accessible tour of the basement which include the classroom, shower room, and receiving room as well as a video tour of the remaining two floors.

PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME!! Guests may not accompany students.

Anyone under the age of 18 will need to arrive with a parent or guardian to give consent to take the class.

LODGING - We recommend Jackon, Sutter Creek or Oakdale. Airbnbs, Bed & Breakfasts or Hotels can be found in each city. All are located within 10-15 miles.

TRANSPORTATION - WE WILL POST MAPS AND PHOTOS ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND ONLINE AS THE EVENT DRAWS NEAR WITH SCHEDULES AND DIRECTIONS!

PARKING:

FREE parking on nearby streets is available but limited-please DO NOT PARK in residential neighborhoods OR in front of the fire station!!

PARKING at Howard Park is available $5 with FREE shuttle service to and from the event.

ADA parking at the Castle on first-come, first-served basis. If the lot is full, there is a drop off point for the disabled member in your party to catch a ride on our golf cart. This is reserved for ADA attendees only. We ask those capable to please respect this policy.

POLICIES

SECURITY SCREENING: per the venue, all bags will be checked at the door.

DISCLAIMER: Live video and/or photography takes place during our events and is used for promotional purposes only. We do not compensate for use of these images. Attendance to our event is acceptance of this policy and constitutes permission for future use of these images.

SOLICITING: Our vendors are rad, that's why we choose them. Absolutely NO soliciting our vendors for wholesale or vending other events during the Menagerie. Our vendors are professional artists connecting with our patrons ~ please be respectful and take a card to contact them later. Don't embarrass yourself by being asked to leave.

NO outside food, drink, smoking, or promotional materials. Leave your matches, arsenal, and other illegal things at home.
