Mark your calendars! The 2nd annual Juneteenth Freedom Festival is on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Whitney Plantation in Edgard, Louisiana. This event is more than just a celebration; it offers an incredible opportunity to learn and grow. It will be an exciting and educational day for the whole family, regardless of age, and the best part? It's free of charge! The museum entrance fee, which includes a self-guided tour of the grounds and buildings, will also be waived. The festival will feature a lively dance workshop by Avery Tate with Rhythm Nation Dance Group and an engaging seminar from our keynote speaker, Holley Willis. Holley, the Chief Editor and Developer of ILABI Global Curriculum will lead a workshop titled "Trauma and Triggers." The workshop will discuss the complexities of trauma and triggers and explore pathways to healing and reconciliation. Various vendor booths will be selling artwork, apparel, jewelry, and crafts, and popular local vendors in St. John the Baptist and surrounding River Parishes will be selling various delicious food, sno-balls, and drinks. Come and join us in celebrating freedom and commemorating the past! Last entry is at 3:00pm.
