Frequently asked questions

A $5 ticket charge this time?

For 2 years we have had twice as much food as needed. To better account for amount of food needed we decided that a temporary deposit for each adult/kid would be better. The money would be paid back onsite. The food costs are still privately funded by Vicki Lyons, head of our local.

Long simple directions?

The outer road is one way and rings the whole island changing names. Look for the beach on right (see Tripod beach picture), the *Bath House* sign will be on left. If you see Belle Isle Boat House you've gone too far, hang a left Michigan-U before bridge.

What are the short directions once on bridge?

Follow Sunset Drive until you see a sign for Golf area and Casino. Hang left (cut thru parking lot avoiding fountain area). Follow Casino Way onto Central Ave. Left at second intersection (first with Statue) with (2nd Street)Vista Dr. Make another left onto Riverbank Dr. Shelter 8 on left close by.

Roaming charges?

Sometimes phone companies will charge Roaming Fees being so close to Canada. Keep an eye out.

Is there a free way to get onto Belle Isle?

Swim? Bike/walk onto Mac Arthur Bridge. Or take bus: DDOT offers bus service to the island via the #12 Conant route. Service runs approximately every 60 minutes, 8 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. on Sunday. Carpooling recommended.

How can I help out?

Please reach out to Vicki and she will thread you to the right person.
