Join us for the 2nd Annual AAPI Playwright Festival, a vibrant celebration of Asian American voices in theater, produced by Contemporary Asian Theater Scene (CATS).
This year’s festival proudly features five newly commissioned 10-minute plays by a dynamic mix of emerging and established AAPI playwrights. Plus, in between each play will be a series of monologues written by Jeffrey Lo, who also serves as Artistic Producer.
These original works explore identity, family, resilience, and joy—offering powerful glimpses into the diversity and richness of the Asian American experience.
Under the direction of Artistic Producer Jeffrey Lo, an award-winning playwright and director, these staged readings are brought to life by AAPI actors and directors committed to bold, authentic storytelling. Whether you're a theater lover, supporter of AAPI arts, or simply curious, you’ll leave inspired.
At CATS, we believe in the transformative power of art—to spark reflection, connection, and change. Through storytelling, we aim to uplift AAPI voices and bring bold, resonant work to audiences of all backgrounds.
What to Expect:
- Five world premiere 10-minute plays
- A mix of established voices and rising talent
- Post-show conversations with the artists
- A welcoming space to connect, reflect, and celebrate AAPI storytelling
This event is produced by CATS (Contemporary Asian Theater Scene) and co-sponsored by San Jose Stage Company.
