Oak wilt is a growing problem for both private and public land managers. This invasive forest pest kills infested oaks and is difficult to manage. Join us for two-part program designed to help landowners understand how to address oak wilt. We will start with a presentation on oak wilt and oak wilt management by Heidi Frei, DNR Parks and Recreation Division Forest Pest Specialist. Afterwards, the Land Conservancy of West Michigan will lead a hike to an oak wilt site and discuss its approach to containing it. Attendees will be given free white oak seedlings to take home and plant! (While supplies last). Please register to attend! We will meet in the Wittenbach Wege Center at 11715 Vergennes St., Lowell, MI.Hosted by the West Michigan Conservation Network, Land Conservancy of West Michigan, Michigan DNR, Michigan United Conservation Clubs, National Wild Turkey Federation, and Kent Conservation District.
