ΟΜΙΛΗΤΗΣ: Χάρης Ξανθουδάκης: ομότιμος καθηγητής τμήματος Μουσικών Σπουδών Ιονίου ΠανεπιστημίουΟ Γιάννης Ξενάκης θεωρήθηκε μια μοναδική προσωπικότητα στη διεθνή σκηνή της μουσικής πρωτοπορίας. Τα έργα του υπήρξαν εξαιρετικά πρωτότυπα, εξαιτίας του ριζοσπαστικού τρόπου με τον οποίο ο ίδιος αντιμετώπισε το μουσικό υλικό. Αυτό όμως ήταν σχεδόν προϋπόθεση για να θεωρηθεί ένας συνθέτης της γενιάς του αξιόλογος: η πεμπτουσία του μουσικού μοντερνισμού της εποχής εκείνης ήταν η επιδίωξη του καινούργιου, του ανήκουστου. Η μουσική του Ξενάκη περιορίστηκε, λοιπόν, σε αυτό και μόνο; Η ομιλία θα προσπαθήσει να δείξει ότι η συμβολή του Ελληνογάλλου πρωτοποριακού συνθέτη διέφερε όχι μόνο σε βαθμό αλλά και σε ποιότητα, από τις νεωτερικές χειρονομίες των σύγχρονών του δημιουργών και να καταδείξει ότι η μουσική πρωτοπορία στο σύνολό της απέκτησε νέες διαστάσεις και νέα συνολική μορφή χάρις στα έργα του. Ο Γιάννης Ξενάκης υπήρξε ένας μεγάλος του 20ού αιώνα.___________________________LECTURE BY HARIS XANTOUDAKIS, PROFESSOR EMERITUS, IONIAN UNIVERSITYIannis Xenakis was considered a unique personality in the international scene of avant-garde music. His works were exceptionally original, due to the radical way in which he dealt with musical material. However, this was almost a prerequisite for a composer of his generation to be considered remarkable: the quintessence of the musical modernism of that time was the pursuit of the new, the unheard. Was Xenakis’s music limited to that alone? This talk will try to show that the contribution of the Greek-French pioneer composer differed not only regarding the degree but also the quality from the modern gestures of his contemporary composers and to show that the musical avant-garde as a whole acquired new dimensions and a new overall form thanks to his works. Giannis Xenakis was a great personality of the 20th century.
