JVS Project Space brings a new dynamic to the burgeoning East Harlem art scene by offering established and emerging artists the opportunity to develop and present an installation or a new body of work to an audience of artists, collectors, curators and art enthusiasts.

Join us for the closing reception With music performance of “The Year of Seeing Clearly” by DC musician Eric MaringEric Maring’s 6th album release, The Year of Seeing Clearly was created during the 2020-21 pandemic era drawing largely from songs written and performed for Saturday evening livestreams with his son Leo. These powerful songs address the stories of our families, melting pot nation, the battles of right vs. wrong, and the challenges of social injustice we grapple with historically and today in the covid era. The recordings offer a fresh twist on what a song can mean to the writers, musicians, and listeners as we explore critical issues of our time. At the closing reception of the Resilience and Uncertainty exhibition he will perform alongside bassist Dan Griffin and multi-instrumentalist Leo Maring. Photo identification is required to enter the building. All persons must wear a mask at all times while indoors.Resilience and Uncertainty brings together the work of six (6) contemporary artists from Washington, DC and New York City whose works shows us how essential art can be in overcoming adversity and difficult times. Working in printmaking, textiles, photography, ceramic installation and painting, their work addresses notions of resilience and uncertainty, both in the Caribbean and the United States.Artists:Felix Angel, Dominie Nash, Eric Finzi, Patricia Encarnacion, Mildor Chevalier, Ezequiel TaverasExhibition:This exhibition presents how these six artists from different generations and cultural backgrounds are coping with the turbulent times we are all experiencing since early 2020. They have overcome adversity and inner conflict, channeling these trials into amazing works of art. The selection of works exemplifies how the artists have turned the uncertainty of recent times into an incredibly prolific creative period.
