Canvas is an original screenplay about Ani Carmichael, a young woman in her 20s plagued by past trauma and abuse as she fights to grow beyond her past and cope with her mental health struggles. Her trajectory is rocky, but through art she finds a path toward the end that she wants.After two years of repeated isolation due to the novel Corona virus and all of its variants, the politicization of science, the polarization of the American people, and new threats of violence and war arising both at home and abroad, depression and suicide rates are on the rise. We are facing a time when many people feel disenfranchised and disconnected from their fellow humans, outsiders and creatives alike often find it more and more difficult to process and communicate their existential despair. For many, it is only through artistic expression, the support of professionals, and loved ones that we can break free of the constant circulation of negative thoughts and dread.Through the use of ritual, theatrical influences of Eugene Ionesco’s The Lesson and the Broadway hit Stomp!, use of video projections, and an original music by Aaron Bakker and Conci Nelson, Canvas provides a multi-sensory depiction and immersive experience of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and panic for the audience in the hopes of increasing awareness, compassion, empathy, and understanding with those suffering today.As part of our mission with Canvas, any profits we make from the production will be contributed to the Southwest Missouri chapter of NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, to better assist our community on a larger level.TICKET INFORMATION: Advanced Tickets:$5 - 1 advance ticket$10 - 1 advance ticket and 1 thank you in the playbill$20 - 1 advance ticket, 1 thank you, $10 to NAMI$25 - 1 advance ticket, 1 thank you, the original soundtrack, $10 goes to NAMI$50 -2 advance tickets, 1 thank you, the original soundtrack, $15 goes to NAMI$250 - 4 advance tickets, 1 thank you, the original soundtrack, a piece of original art, and $50 goes to NAMI.Box Office:$10 Adult$5 Students with ID$15 Adult; $5 goes to NAMISOCIAL LINKS:https://www.facebook.com/canvastheplayhttps://www.instagram.com/canvas_theplay/
