This workshop will help you understand the importance of setting boundaries as well as strategies for communicating with compassion.

From a practical standpoint, we know that setting boundaries for ourselves is the “right” thing to do, but when you have a loved one struggling with substance use, it can feel impossible at times. Using evidence-based best practices, this interactive workshop will dive into the what, why, and how behind establishing and compassionately communicating boundaries in your relationships.Upon completion of this 4-part workshop series, you will: <ul><li>Understand boundaries: What they are, and why you need them in your relationships </li><li>Gain insight into the 8 dimensions of wellness and identify where boundaries are working for you, and where they AREN’T, in order to establish new strategies </li><li>Learn how to set healthy boundaries, and how to best communicate these boundaries with compassion, ease and confidence </li><li>Learn strategies to address situations when boundaries don‘t align (I.e. how to get on the same page!) </li><li>Understand the difference between boundaries and agreements, and in which situations they can be used most effectively </li><li>Learn from role-plays: We will pull in anonymous yet real-life scenarios and practice these, to help you apply these learnings to your own experiences. </li></ul>Each session takes place from 6:30 - 8:00 PM Central Time on the following Wednesdays via Zoom and will be recorded, so if you happen to miss one, you'll be able to access the recordings when convenient for you. Your ticket covers access to all four sessions:<ul><li>Session 1 -April 27</li><li>Session 2 - May 4</li><li>Session 3 - May 11</li><li>Session 4 - May 18</li></ul>The information presented in this workshop is informed by the following evidence-based best practices and treatments: CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training), MI (Motivational Interviewing), ITC (Invitation to Change) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). About the presenters: Pam Lanhart Pam is the daughter, sister and mother of loved ones that have suffered from substance use disorder. Pam is the director of Thrive Family Recovery Resources, a non-profit that exists to support families impacted by addiction. Pam is a trained Arise interventionist specializing in family case management, a family recovery coach and peer recovery specialist. Her work is informed by evidence based best practices including Invitation to Change, CRAFT and Motivational Interviewing and believes the foundation for healing is empathy, kindness, connection and love. Pam has helped hundreds of families heal through compassion and love.Laurie Healy Laurie is a strong ally to the recovery community and an advocate for individuals and families that are struggling with substance use challenges and disorders. She is also a Family Recovery Coach, an ARISE interventionist, and a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist. Based on lived family experience with addiction and mental health disorders, Laurie has a passion for helping family members, allies and workplaces navigate relationships where mental health and substance use disorders exist. Laurie received her B.A. in Communications from St. Norbert College and her career journey has included training in individual, group, and corporate wellness and fitness coaching.
