May 3, 2022 Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) Preceptor Training

The Health Federation of Philadelphia(HFP) serves as a keystone supporting a network of Community Health Centers as well as the broader base of public and private-sector organizations that deliver health and human services to vulnerable populations.

The Philadelphia Department of Public Health is offering a free MOUD 1-day preceptor program to waivered PCP providers in Philadelphia.

<h3>Introduction to Buprenorphine Prescribing in Primary Care (Integrating MOUD into Primary Care Service: Part 1) is developed to support providers who are interested in treating buprenorphine and haven’t yet taken the waiver training.  </h3><h3>This didactic training is the first part of a mini-residency program, followed by an individual on-site observation with an experienced faculty preceptor. In-person observation sessions must be scheduled a minimum of 4 weeks in advance by contacting Caroline Drob, Program Assistant. Sessions are available on a first come, first serve basis.</h3>Pre-requisites: Participants must have their waiver or be eligible to obtain their buprenorphine waiver. Target Audience: Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners who have obtained their Buprenorphine Waiver training.
Learning Objectives: After attending this program, participants will be able to:<ol><li>Describe considerations for treating patients who have opioid use disorder that are unique to primary care</li><li>Describe practical and clinical considerations for providing sublocade to patients</li><li>Define concepts of harm reduction and trauma informed care.</li><li>Review Philadelphia specific epidemiology and the rationale for treating patients for opioid use disorder in primary care.</li></ol>
