The Austin Group Psychotherapy Society is an interdisciplinary organization of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and counselors who share a mutual commitment to continuing professional development and to excellence in the practice of group psychotherapy.Over the past decade, the Austin Group Psychotherapy Society (AGPS) has gained national recognition for the quality of our training opportunities and the warmth and enthusiasm of our members.AGPS trainings and social events are designed to mentor new professionals and students, expand the knowledge and clinical skills of all members, and enrich and rejuvenate established practitioners.

<P>Come join us for our next Friday Night Conversation. Our topic will be:</P>
<H3><STRONG>Considering Our Evolving Social Class: Reflections on the Impact of Power and Income on the Subtleties of How We Practice</STRONG><BR><SPAN></SPAN></H3>
<DIV>Come bond with your fellow therapists in a social evening of rich discussion, light snacks and wine!  <BR></DIV>
<DIV>Social class, explored by itself, is one lens of identity rarely discussed in our culture.  During the discussion portion of the meeting we will explore how our own histories of income and power (having it or not having it - the pride, shame and hostility that surrounds it and so on) impacts what we recognize and attend to in ourselves and our clients in session.  Really, we are most interested in making more conscious how it has affected our own sense of Self and how that may subtly impact others.  Lest you think it sounds too heavy for a Friday night - have no fear - it begins and ends with food and frolic, and talking about taboo topics can be fun... so there is something for everyone.  :) </DIV>
