Since 1999, the DC Independent Film Festival (DCIFF) — the oldest independent film festival in Washington, DC — has showcased bold features, documentaries, shorts, animation, and experimental works from around the world. Reimagined in 2022 as an Annual Film Forum, DCIFF connects filmmakers and audiences through conversation, networking, and innovative programming in the Nation’s Capital.

The book is about how identities are formed, who has the power to form them and why it is important to be the designer of your identity as well as the one who tells the story of who you are. Lauren “Bobby Pen” Williams, M.A. is a rising force in media. Over the past decade, Bobby Pen has established space in print, digital and broadcast media serving as Radio One Digital Content Manager and producing local and nationally syndicated radio shows on Hot 97, WBLS and WLIB in New York City. Currently, Bobby Pen is a freelance reporter for P. Diddy’s cable network REVOLT, theGrio, and HELLOBEAUTIFUL.Bobby Pen first established herself professionally as the Founding Editor of award-winning Lifestyle &amp; Entertainment website TheBobbyPen.com, which has been documenting Black American lifestyle contributions to entertainment, business, and culture since 2010.With dozens of national television appearances on TMZ, Cheddar News, ESSENCE, BBC NEWS, and ABC 20/20, Bobby Pen has become a go-to culture commentator. She has garnered millions of views and viral moments on social media from her in-the-field interviews with entertainers, athletes, business moguls and political figures like Angela Bassett, Snoop Dogg, Carmen Electra, Diddy, Cardi B, NBA Legend Dirk Nowitzki, Kirk Franklin, and CNN reporter Don Lemon. TheBobbyPen.com’s exclusive content has been sourced by Washington Post, The Source, Baller Alert and earned more than 10 million views on The Shade Room.Bobby Pen has earned recognition from her community, having been named D.C.’s Top 30 Under 30 Young Professionals, Titan Arts Awards’ Blogger of the Year 2015, Deluxe Magazine’s “30 St. Louis Women to Know” and was awarded the Houston’s Mayor Arts Alliance Relief Fund Grant in 2020. Most recently, Bobby Pen has been named Houston Chapter Co-Lead of global membership-based professional organization, For(bes) The Culture.
