No more trying to be mindful alone.The Hive exists to develop creative, compassionate, and mindfully-engaged citizens in the Cincinnati region through small group classes and workshops. We have curated a collective of proven teachers, facilitators, and spiritual directors to help guide your learning in mindfulness, contemplation, art and action. We hope you'll try a class and like it enough to become a regular member. Your partnership helps make this nonprofit possible.(As a social enterprise, the Hive shares our story with photos of classes and events. Click here to join today.</a></p><h2>Transforming Matter into Meaning: Contemplative Weaving</h2><h3>Domains: Creative Expression, Contemplative Practice</h3><p><em>“We touch things to assure ourselves of reality.”</em> -Anni Albers, On Weaving</p><p>The art of weaving is a profound metaphor for how we experience and co-create with life. Through the physical process, an interlocking of horizontal and vertical threads, we can understand the unique intersections and turning points of our internal and external realities. In this multi-week class, we will explore a variety of materials and weaving techniques alongside writing prompts, readings and group discussions to make meaning of our being in this big world. </p><p>No artistic experience is necessary. All supplies are included.</p><p>Rowe Schnure is a conceptual weaver, educator and community arts organizer living and working in Cincinnati, OH. They received their BFA in Textile Arts from Kent State University in 2016. Since then, they have taught weaving for a variety of groups, from children to seniors, and believe that weaving can be for everyone. Rowe is also the Associate Director of The Well and seeks to hold contemplative spaces for creative exploration.</p><h3>Updated Covid Considerations: Consistent with new CDC guidance, masks are no longer required indoors at the Hive. Individuals may choose to wear a mask for personal protection, and as always, we ask anyone who is feeling sick or has a high temperature to not attend until they are recovered.
