Tech By Choice

Build your product design skills with a community that supports all skill levels during a 3-hour collaborative design sprint in Figma!

ℹ️ About the event!

Once a month the Tech by Choice community will spend 3 hours in a digital huddle around a Figma file to solve a single product design problem together. By the end of the session, we will walk through the design process to create multiple screens to solve our problem.

🧐 How does this work?

Each session will start off with us coming together to find a problem. Problems can be big, small, funny, or serious, so don't be afraid to throw out ideas! Once we find a problem we all want to work together on, we will move through a single design sprint starting off with stating the problem, finding out who our user will be, coming up with a few features we would like to build, branding assets, and building out a few screens.

👥 Who is this event for?

This event is perfect for anyone looking to build their digital community and skills. If you've never used Figma, don't know what product design is, this event is for you! No matter your level, you can drop in and learn (or mentor) everyone in the session.

Can't stay for the whole thing? That's ok! Life happens so feel free to drop in and out as you see fit!

💻 What do I need for this event?

The only requirement for this event is an internet connection (doesn't have to be the best connection) to connect to zoom and the Figma file.

We try and keep our events as simple as possible to make it easy for anyone to join, but if you run into any trouble and need technical support, please reach out to us at hello@techbychoice.org and we will do our best to support you.

💡 How can I become a mentor?

Are you looking to become a mentor for this event? Send us an email at hello@techbychoice.org! We're always looking for missioned aligned folks to help our community enter, stay, and thrive in the tech. We couldn't do this without more people like you.

✊ Who is Tech by Choice?

Tech By Choice is a non-profit organization that hosts events and workshops that help people of marginalized communities find their place within the tech industry.
