Leviatan - A Cultural and Political Cabaret

Kerryman and CNN doyen Donie O'Sullivan and satirical pranksters Waterford Whispers News feature in Leviathan, the original Irish political and cultural cabaret at the Town House in Venice as part of Ireland Week on May 14th at 8pm.Leviathan political cabaret was founded by Naoise Nunn nearly 20 years ago in Dublin, bringing together political debate, satire and entertainment with subversive zeal. It has been hosted by economist, author and podcaster David McWilliams for most of its history and has featured guests as diverse as Naomi Klein and Ronnie Drew of The Dubliners; Bob Geldof and Alastair Campbell. Leviathan influenced the development of the Kilkenomics festival of economics and remains the core of the MindField spoken word arena at Ireland's biggest music and arts festival - Electric Picnic. This edition of Leviathan - a US debut - features a panel including CNN reporter, Donie O'Sullivan; Sarah Murphy, VP of Curation &amp; Marketing Technologies at MGM Resorts International; Jacinta Tobin, VP Global Sales and Operations, Proofpoint; and Mark Little, CEO and co-founder of Kinzen. The burning question for the event is the global role of Irish people in tech and the urgency of "responsible" technology in defending truth, democracy and the planet. There'll also be brilliant biting comedy from Waterford Whispers News, one of the world's leading satirical news websites, featuring a cameo by LA-based Irish actress, Caroline Morahan; and standup comedy from LA-based Irish comedian, David Nihill.
