Join New Destiny Housing in its first ever Symposium on Thursday, March 10th at 9:30 am. This unique, half-day event will engage leading national and local experts and individuals with lived experience on innovative practices for preventing and ending homelessness for domestic violence survivors. <h3>Homelessness and Domestic Violence</h3>According to the most recent federal data, approximately 78,000 individuals experience homelessness in New York City and more than half are families with children. At the core of this crisis, is domestic violence which in New York City is the number one driver of family homelessness.The need for safe, affordable housing among domestic violence survivors and the crisis of homelessness are not unique to New York City: It is a national crisis that has been exacerbated by the pandemic. There are various organizations that have implemented innovative, trauma-informed housing programs locally and across the country, such as rapid rehousing and supportive housing.

<h3>The Symposium </h3>Sector leaders and individuals with lived experience share best practices and lessons learned about emerging and existing evidence-based solutions to address the domestic violence and homelessness crises. Q&amp;A portions will enable attendees to join the conversation and discuss their experiences in the field.
