Space and science enthusiasts can explore the universe with leaders in the field at our Astronomy Nights. Veterans and military families are invited to explore the museum without the crowds during programs designed especially for them.

<h1>ASL-Interpreted Presentations During Kids Week</h1><p><a href="https://www.intrepidmuseum.org/kidsweek" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Kids Week</a> is back, and moving full STEAM ahead! Children of all ages and interests will learn about science, technology, engineering, arts and math through fun-filled activities, live animal shows, hands-on workshops, performances, special guests and interactive demonstrations designed to educate and inspire.</p><p>Families and individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing are invited to attend for free on Saturday, February 19, for American Sign Language-interpreted presentations, demonstrations and workshops. Advance registration is required.</p><h2>Schedule</h2><h3>Noon - Intrepid Museum Education Demonstration: Poof! Life in a Vacuum</h3><p>Discover the importance of the Earth&#x27;s atmosphere is and why astronauts need to wear spacesuits. Using a bell jar and vacuum pump, Museum educators will mimic the vacuum of space and its effect on objects.</p><h3>1:00pm - Mad Science Presents Big Top Science</h3><p>Come one, come all and behold a series of Physics demonstrations that includes an activity that explains why a bed of nails is a good night sleep. <em>Recommended for ages 5+</em></p><h3>2:00pm-3:00pm - Intrepid Museum Education Workshop: Robotic Arm</h3><p>Design a simple device to move an object in space!</p><h3>3:00pm - Mad Science Presents Big Top Science</h3><p>Come one, come all and behold a series of Physics demonstrations that includes an activity that explains why a bed of nails is a good night sleep. <em>Recommended for ages 5+</em></p><h2>Additional Kids Week Info</h2><p>You can view the full schedule of Kids Week events and presentations at <a href="https://www.intrepidmuseum.org/kidsweek" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">intrepidmuseum.org/kidsweek</a>. </p><p>ASL interpretation, with limited free admission, is also available for Saturday, February 19, and Wednesday, February 23. Following the City of New York’s <a href="https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-vaccines-keytonyc.page" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Key to the City</a> mandate, all visitors ages 5 and older will be required to show proof they have received two vaccine doses (except for those who have received the one dose of the Johnson &amp; Johnson vaccine), as well as identification, before entering the Museum. Please bring proof and ID with you to the program. In the meantime, learn more here: <a href="https://www.intrepidmuseum.org/onboard-with-safety" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">intrepidmuseum.org/onboard-with-safety</a>.</p><p></p><h3>FAQs</h3><p><strong>What will be accepted as proof of vaccination and of identification?</strong></p><p>All visitors 5 years of age and older must provide proof of two doses of vaccination (except for those who have received the one dose of the Johnson &amp; Johnson vaccine) against COVID-19, as well as identification, before entering the Museum. </p><p>The following will be accepted as proof of the receipt of vaccination:</p><ul><li>A CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card from the jurisdiction, state or country where the vaccine was administered that reflects the person’s name, vaccine brand and date administered (or a digital or physical photo of the card);</li><li>A New York City COVID Safe Pass (available to download on Apple and Android devices);</li><li>A New York State Excelsior Pass</li></ul><p>Identification means an official document bearing the name of the individual and a photo or date of birth. Examples of acceptable identification include, but are not limited to:</p><ul><li>Driver’s license</li><li>Non-driver government ID card</li><li>IDNYC</li><li>Passport</li><li>School ID card</li></ul><p><strong>Are facemasks required?</strong></p><p>All visitors age 3 and up will be required to wear masks in indoor spaces within the Museum complex. Vaccinated visitors will be permitted to remove their masks in outdoor spaces such as the pier and flight deck.</p><p><strong>Do you have additional ASL-interpreted programs during Kids Week?</strong></p><p>Yes! ASL interpretation will also be offered on Saturday, February 19, and Wednesday, February 23. Families and individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing are invited to attend for free  with advance registration.
