Sam Houston High School

Sam Houston High School (SHHS) is hosting a Black History Month program for parents, students and community members on February 18, 2022, from 5:30-8 p.m. With a theme of “Good Trouble,” the program will pay homage to <a href="https://www.biography.com/political-figure/john-lewis" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">John Lewis</a>, former United States Representative, American politician and Civil Rights activist. Lewis paved the way for many American minorities, and his legacy will live on through those who are willing to get in “good trouble” for civil rights. We’re also excited to announce that the program will include a theatrical trailer for a five-part original documentary series titled “Echoes from The Hill.” The docuseries will explore what life was like for Black residents in a five-block area within the city of Arlington known as The Hill.The program will include performances by: <ul><li>SHHS Choir </li></ul><ul><li>SHHS Orchestra </li></ul><ul><li>SHHS Dance Company </li></ul><ul><li>SHHS Community Jazz Band</li></ul><ul><li>African Student Organization </li></ul><ul><li>SHHS Community Gospel Choir </li></ul><ul><li>Dance by Texans Next Generation </li></ul><ul><li>Poetry by the Young People of Color </li></ul>Be sure to register and come out with family and friends for an event you are sure to remember!
