516 ARTS presents a conversation with artist Josh T. Franco and Cody Hartley,Director of the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, moderated by co-curator AliciaInez Guzmán, PhD. It will explore the unintentional role of charismatic artistsin gentrifying communities and erasing local histories, leading to the creationof art colonies like Santa Fe, which continue to face profound real estate crisestoday. Franco’s engagement with this phenomenon is informed by his years ofexamining the impact of the late artist Donald Judd’s legacy on Marfa, Texas.Hartley will further explore Georgia O’Keeffe’s legacy and the museum’s ownpath toward institutional self reflection.
