Join us on 8th March for International Women's Day and hear from women around the world who are leading the way to break the bias!

Below you can find details of our International Women's Day online event coming up on 8th March. You can either sign up  for free or sign up and give a donation towards your ticket - which will go towards empowering the next generation of future leaders.

International Women’s Day (IWD) is a very important time for us as a global Movement for women and girls, where we come together to celebrate progress, raise awareness as well as showcase our commitment to gender equality.This IWD, we want to shine a light on the women of the Movement who are leading the way to break the bias! Facilitating the event will be Claire-Marie Pepper (Australia), who has been a Girl Guide for over 10 years and is involved with many aspects of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), including being a Juliette Low Seminar participate in 2019. As a woman in STEM, Claire strives everyday to break down stereotypes and inspire the next generation of young women.Our guest speakers include:Nakawuki Stella Lukwago (Uganda) is a certified lobbyist, a social innovation consultant and mentor, and a social innovator. Stella is a founder of Innovation on Wheels, an organization that empowers rural women to create social innovations that benefit them as individuals, their communities and the environment. She has been a Girl Guide since she was six. In 2013, she volunteered at Pax Lodge World Centre, London, as a program and events intern.Lucy Nkhoma (Malawi) is a social justice campaigner passionate about leadership and girl empowerment. She is a trained global Stop the Violence Facilitator under the flagship of WAGGGS and advocates for women’s rights to achieve gender equality especially to achieve Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, GBV, and Menstrual Health Management. Lucy considers leadership as a journey that needs to be embraced and practiced. To demonstrate leadership Lucy is a young African Leaders Alumnae, was a Sangam WAGGGS World Centre volunteer, Deputy Chief Commissioner, Africa Region WAGGGS Conference delegate, and was a participant on the Juliette Low Seminar in 2016. Nadhira Al-Harthy (Oman) is a Mountaineer and education expert; a passionate athlete who marked her name with international achievements as the first Omani female climber confirmed to have reached the Summit of Everest and Mount AmaDabla. Her athletic achievements are guided by her academic background in geography. Nadhira is currently the Assistant Director General for the Oman Guides - Ministry of Education.Ruchira Jayasinghe (Sri Lanka) has been in the Girl Guide movement for over 25 years and is a member of the General Council of the Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association (SLGGA). Ruchira is Juliette Low alumni, and has served as a member of the Asia Pacific Regional Committee (2007-2013), and on the Membership Growth Committee (2015-2017). She has also served in other governance roles within WAGGGS. Currently employed at the Colombo Stock Exchange as a Senior Assistant Manager.Signe Gertz Jensen (Denmark) was a youth delegate representing Denmark at the WAGGGS and WOSM European Conference in 2019, since then she was given the opportunity to be a participant at the Juliette Low Seminar in Poland in 2019. This journey has now led her to be an OB-PS young supporter and a UN Youth Delegate on Gender Equality and Sexual and Reproductive Rights and Health, meanwhile she stays engaged in international Scouting and Guiding.Mary-May Hubert (Canada) is a member of Girl Guides of Canada and as a part of her organization she is a unit leader with girls 5-6 (Sparks) / 13-18 (Pathfinders and Rangers), a provincial trainer in Quebec and is proud to be the National Link Advisor representative at the national lever of all young adult members age 18-35. She has volunteered at three world centres (Sangam, Our Chalet and Pax Lodge) and has been both a Juliette Low participant and Facilitator. Most recently, she joined the WAGGGS Core Mission Volunteers as a part of the Leadership Team. Mary currently works for the Canadian Association of Midwives helping organize various events and learning opportunities for members across the country whilst training to be a Doula.We look forward to celebrating International Women&#x27;s Day with you soon!
