Join Casey Trees and Capital Nature for an easy paced tree appreciation and identification walk at Palisades Community Center. Registrants will learn to identify key tree species and learn about the unique role each tree plays in the ecosystem. Species will include willow oak, eastern redbud, southern magnolia, and other tree species commonly found in DC.No prior tree identification experience is necessary! The official Casey Trees species guide will be available as an add-on when you purchase your ticket online. (Note: purchase of species guide is optional and does not include tree walk ticket.) For more information and to keep up with upcoming events, check out our websites!https://capitalnature.org/https://caseytrees.org/What to expect: An easy walk among a variety of tree species, stopping to identify trees and connect with nature. Species guides will be available to use to identify trees.Time: Event check in will begin at 1:00pm. The walk will start at 1:15pm and last for 75 minutes.What to bring: Reusable water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray, comfortable walking shoes, and comfortable clothing. No food will be provided. There is a restroom onsite.COVID-19 Policy: Casey Trees is now requiring all attendees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend our events. One of the following options will demonstrate proof of vaccination:- A physical Center for Disease Control (CDC) Vaccination Card- A digital copy/photo of a CDC Vaccination Card- A COVID-19 Verification App such as VaxYes or CLEARPlease bring a photo ID and one of the above listed options to provide proof of vaccination. You may not be asked to show proof of vaccination during our outdoor event, however you may need to show proof of vaccination to use any indoor facilities.Getting ThereWe will meet right off the Edmunds Place parking lot at the beginning of the path at Palisades Community Center. Look for a Casey Trees staff member in an orange vest!Parking: Parking is available at the lot on Edmunds Place NW. There is also street parking available on Sherier Place NW.Biking: The park is accessible by bike.
