April 27, 2022  8 Hour MAT Waiver Training for Primary Care Providers

The Health Federation of Philadelphia(HFP) serves as a keystone supporting a network of Community Health Centers as well as the broader base of public and private-sector organizations that deliver health and human services to vulnerable populations.

HFP & PDPH are collaborating with PCSS to offer free waiver training to primary care providers in Philadelphia.

<h3>This training will prepare new buprenorphine prescribers, as well as assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants who plan to apply for a waiver to prescribe buprenorphine for the treatment of opioid use disorder for more than 30 patients.</h3><h3>Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants planning to apply for a &gt;30 waiver will need to complete an additional 16 hours of training online in order to fully complete their waiver training. Information about how to access required additional training will be provided on April 27. </h3>For more information about the waiver training, please email Caroline Drob, Program Assistant at cdrob@healthfederation.orgAAAP is the Data Sponsor for this waiver training. pcss@aaap.orgTrainers: <ul><li>Serge-Emile Simpson, MD, Einstein Medical Center</li><li>Kyle Kampman, MD, University of Pennsylvania </li></ul>Learning Objectives: After attending this program, participants will be able to:<ul><li>Screen and identify patients with OUD and define evidence-based treatments.</li><li>Discuss the pharmacology of opioids as it relates to treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD) patients.</li><li>Describe the fundamentals of office-based opioid treatment including the treatment of the co-morbid patient.</li><li>Explain the process of buprenorphine induction as well as stabilization and maintenance.</li><li>Discuss all FDA approved antagonist and agonist medications to treat OUD.</li><li>Discuss basic office protocols including medical record documentation and confidentiality.</li><li>Utilize evidence-based resources to ensure providers have the confidence to prescribe buprenorphine for patients with OUD.</li><li>Recognize the importance of obtaining a waiver to begin treating patients with OUD.</li></ul>FEE: There is no fee for this program.
