St. Valentine's Day is approaching. It is appropriate to examine the crimes of love. To this our German film series offers Joseph von Sternberg's 1930 masterpiece "The Blue Angel" in The Crown Room, first Thursday, February 3. Lust, humiliation and despair come to torment professor Immanuel Rath after encountering the seductive Lola dancing in a seedy dive in an unnamed northern city. Consumed by jealousy and desire, Rath's destiny can only be madness. Maybe our unfortunate protagonist is on to something though. Maybe romantic love is the delusion. Maybe obsession is the only love that counts...Doors open at 6:30pm Showing begins at 7pm$20.00 ticket includes: discussion with Dr. Katrina Nousek, showing of The Blue Angel, popcorn and sweet treat! Full bar available. Reservations required and gratuity not included.
