VW Christophe Lobry-Boulanger will take us through a History of the Calendar and describe the evolution of the various types of calendars.

In this month’s lecture, VW Christophe Lobry-Boulanger will take us through the history of the calendar and describe the evolution of the various types of calendars (lunar, solar, lunisolar, and sideral) from Ancient Egypt to the Classic Greek era, leading to Republican Rome and the Julian calendar, and finally, Medieval Christianity and the Gregorian calendar. His presentation is inspired by the works of Alexander Philip, David Harper and Alan LongstaffLecturer Bio:VW Lobry-Boulanger served as Master of France La Clémente Amitié Cosmopolite Lodge № 410 from 2012 to 2013. He currently serves as Assistant Grand Lecturer in the Tenth Manhattan District of the Grand Lodge of New York, Vice-President of the Wardens &amp; Deacons Association, and Trustee of the Masters &amp; Past Masters Association.Christophe Lobry-Boulanger has over 20 years of humanitarian experience with the Red Cross and the United Nations. He has served at the UN Department of Political Affairs, Security Council Branch, as well as at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Delegation to the United Nations. As an International Delegate with the IFRC, he has been deployed to Kenya, Haiti, Pakistan, the Philippines, and West Africa in various disaster management positions, including in 2015/2016 as the Deputy Head of Regional Ebola Response for the Red Cross Movement. He recently came back from his last assignment as Head of Migration – Europe, for the Regional Office of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in Budapest.
