He has earned long-standing residencies at Baltimore’s most reputable venues and is consistently booked for high profile events in the area. His ability to weave in and out of genres smoothly while maintaining a signature style and keeping diverse crowds engaged is often credited for his continued growth and success as a DJ. Neil’s influences include Calvin Harris, DJ Snake, Joel Corry, and Tiesto.Nu Tekno is 女樂 in Chinese, the first character Nu means Woman and the second character Yue is music. It is a San Francisco, Taipei, London Artists Exchange, Asia Tour Management &amp; Underground Event promoter Showcasing women, Bipoc, and underrepresented artists.In ancient China and Chinese mythology, the first instrument was made by a woman, Nu Wa (女媧), the legend has it she also created human beings then she made a mystical instrument to make human beings happy, party, and love, multiply generation after generation world without end. In Eastern culture, music has always meant the harmony of humans and nature (天人合一). More women specialized in music than men, and music was even performed exclusively among women. Women were considered and represented “Goddesses”, and “Divine Feminine”. Nu (女), in Mandarin Chinese, represents “female”. I changed the spelling of Techno to “Tekno”. I use this word just because I believe music without language is the most powerful, which has the ability to transcend any borders. I’ve spent time in Taiwan, China, London, and now in California, and I found language can be a barrier for me to communicate and self-express. I always wanted to blend Western and Eastern cultures or find my nationality identity through music. I grew up in Taipei, Taiwan. In 1542, when Portuguese sailors sighted an uncharted island and noted it on their maps as Ilha Formosa (beautiful island), from now, which is known for modern cities, traditional Chinese temples, dramatic mountainous terrain, and has a controversial and politically complex atmosphere. When I was little, sometimes I identified with being Chinese, sometimes Japanese, sometimes Taiwanese, and sometimes Hakkanese, a minority group in Taiwan. I couldn&#x27;t tell or answer where I was from. The first mother goose rhymes I’d learned to sing from my grandmother is a Japanese traditional song - “Momotaro-san” (“桃太郎さん”), that was my cherished childhood memory with my grandmother. My experience in Eastern and Western culture inspires my creation of music. I started to have an idea to found Nu Tekno (女樂) while I lived in London in 2018. My vision is to lift up more women, women of color (BIPOC), and women from underrepresented communities (LGBTQ) in music. I wanted to help and encourage them to express themselves, reach their potential through music, and transform their lives to something unlike anything they have ever experienced. Because a world of smarter, more confident women means a shift in power to solve more of humanity’s problems.
