<h2>Do you want to test with more diverse audiences to ensure that your experiences are inclusive and accessible?</h2><p>Join Curiosity Tank founder Michele Ronsen, Ask Like A Pro program alumni, and Fable, a leading accessibility platform powered by people with disabilities, for this series of three 90-minute events focused on conducting user research with people who have disabilities. </p><p>Ticket sales for all three events will be donated to related non-profit organizations to further our combined commitment to help shift the User Experience / User Experience Research community’s understanding and awareness of this very important topic!</p><p>As of January 11, 2022 we raised a whopping $8000 for these three non-profits! Please help us reach our goal of $10,000 by January 31st!</p><p><strong><em>NOTE: A recording of the event(s) and related materials will be sent to registrants from Curiosity Tank. These events originally took place on November 16th, December  7th, and January 10th.</em></strong></p>

<p><strong>Session 1</strong>, on November 16, 2021 focused on visual impairment with screen readers and magnification assisted technologies. <strong>Session 2</strong>, on December 7, 2021 focused on invisible impairments such as hearing, dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and color blindness. <strong>Session 3</strong>, held on January 10, 2022, focused on mobility issues.</p>

<p></p><h2>Session 1: Conducting UXR with People Who Have Visual Impairments</h2>

<p>Join the CEO and Founder of Curiosity Tank, Michele Ronsen, in partnership with Fable, as she speaks with Samuel Proulx, Accessibility Evangelist and a blind screen reader user, and Shane Kehoe, Customer Experience Specialist and a screen magnification user, to understand more about assistive technology users. In this session, you will learn tips for recruiting visually impaired and blind participants, how to set up a study for the participants, and conduct user research with prototypes, timing, tasks, and more. Last, you’ll learn how to prioritize and act on the feedback of people with disabilities, as well as how to benchmark your progress. <p>Invisible differences – such as sensory, learning, and cognitive – are part of a spectrum of experiences for which there’s no singular solution for accommodation. So how can user experience research practices aim for accessibility for all?</p><p></p><p>Join us to discuss important strategies for conducting user research with people who have a spectrum of invisible differences. There are no one-size-fits-all accommodations, but experts Meryl Evans and Nikki Nolan share their best practices for both living with their own invisible disabilities and working with this important population. <p>______________________________________________________________________________________________________</p><h2>Session 3: Conducting UXR with People Who Have Limited Mobility</h2>

<p>Mobility issues affect all kinds of consumers and workers — even those with desk jobs. In this session Robin Wilson-Beattie talks about the vast number of physical disabilities that contribute to mobility impairment, how the legality and spirit of the law vary, ways tech helps ambulate, and what this means for conducting UXR for people that have mobility issues. Ryan Hileman, who developed <a href="https://talonvoice.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Talon</a>, also joins Curiosity Tank founder Michele Ronsen to discuss his own struggles with mobility and the hands-free computer input solution he developed so he and others could continue to access today’s technology. Both share resources to find limted mobillity research participants.  </p><p><strong>Topics we’ll cover:</strong></p><ul><li>Perceptions about various mobility devices and how they differ </li><li>Physical disabilities that contribute to mobility impairment</li><li>New and emerging tech to help ambulate, and existing solutions that do not</li><li>Mobility supports for desk workers, such as voice recognition and eye tracking</li><li>Employer and insurance support for accessibility software</li><li>The Talon user community user reseach feedback loops</li><li>What this means for conducting UXR for people that have mobility issues </li></ul><p><strong>Ryan Hileman</strong> is the developer of Talon, a powerful, customizable hands-free computer input solution for people with mobility challenges. The inspiration for Talon was Ryan’s own struggle to continue working as a programmer after pain in his arms made it nearly impossible to type. Today, thousands of people use his software for free.</p><p><strong>Robin Wilson-Beattie</strong> (she, her) is a keynote speaker, writer, and advocate for disability and sexuality. She combines years of personal experience with medically sound research to help a variety of populations learn more about these topics and how to advocate for more education about these topics. </p><p>Robin is a member of the Association of American Sexual Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), the Women of Color Sexual Health Network (WOCSHN), and a graduate and member of the San Francisco Sexuality Information Training (SFSI).
