Industry Seminar: Dr. Ericka Anderson (Managing Director, CHARM)

The MIT Microbiome Club, part of the Center for Microbiome Informatics and Therapeutics, brings together inquisitive MIT undergrads, grad researchers, postdocs, faculty, and clinicians in the emerging field of microbiome studies and microbiome-based medicine.

<p><strong>Bio: </strong>Dr. Anderson is the Managing Director of CHARM, the Collaborative to Halt Antibiotic-Resistant Microbes, at UC San Diego. Dr. Anderson received her B.S. in Biology at Carnegie Mellon University, graduating with Research and University Honors. She completed her PhD at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology/Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research in Developmental Genetics with Dr. David Page, and completed postdoctoral training in Microbiology and Immunology at UC San Diego Medical School with Dr. Victor Nizet. Dr. Anderson then worked as a Life Cycle Management Team Leader and Microbiology Technical Lead at Human Longevity, Inc. supervising key microbiome and high-throughput sequencing programs. She spearheads CHARM interdisciplinary research efforts, public communication, social media, public outreach, budgeting and financials, seminars, colloquiums and research in progress events, and developing a formal curriculum for Masters’ courses through the Vice Chancellors’ Strategic Academic Program Development initiative. Dr. Anderson received the MIT Presidential-Levanthal Fellowship, UNCF-Merck Science Fellowship (Undergraduate and Postdoctoral), and the National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science Fellowship.</p>
