Founded in 1978, the Downriver Council for the Arts (DCA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) arts and cultural organization that proudly serves nearly 400,000 residents in 21 Downriver communities. The DCA's mission is to enrich the quality of life in the Downriver communities by advocating and promoting the arts and providing opportunities for involvement and participation in arts and cultural activities. We actively support local artists and performers through artistic outreach programs and special promotional opportunities. The DCA also creates regional partnerships with other cultural organizations, schools and service clubs to promote artistic, cultural and special events throughout Southeast Michigan. We hold these activities in our Arts Center and by operating in the various cities we serve. Each program and event at the DCA seeks to increase knowledge and understanding of art and ourselves, improve skills by participants, change one’s attitude or values, give enjoyment, inspiration, and creativity.

Zumba Fitness with Kelly Nagy on Wednesdays at the Arts Center!

ZUMBA FITNESS: Wednesdays: 6:30pm-7:30pm <ul><li>Jan. 19 FREE CLASS</li><li>Jan. 26-Feb. 23 (5 weeks)</li><li>$25</li></ul>Low Impact, High Energy!45 min Dance Fitness15 min Cool Down/StretchInstructor Kelly Nagy has been leading Zumba classes in the Downriver area since 2010. She took a little break to focus on her family and is now ready to get back at it!*Zumba is a fun and effective dance fitness class that provides a total workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome! Zumba Fitness was created for EveryBODY, Every Age, Every Shape and Every Size… LET’s DANCE!Ages 12 and up. Please be advised that we will be following all mandated covid restrictions as announced. We are asking all users of the arts center to follow safe social distancing measures. Hand sanitizer is available in public places throughout the building. If you are sick, please stay home and contact us to discuss make-up class days or refunds. Please check our website for current guidelines and hours of operation. Fine print: It is your responsibility to stay home if you are sick. If you have a fever, stay home. If someone in your house is sick, stay home. If you have allergies and can’t control sneezing, and cough please stay home. If you have been exposed or if you show signs of Covid-19, please stay home.Maintain 6 feet distance from person-to-person at all times. Facemasks are encouraged at the present time of publishing this event, however could be required if executive orders mandate them.Hand sanitizer is available for immediate use at the front entrance and entrance into each of our common areas. Please wash hands with soap and water for at least 30 seconds after touching metal surfaces, sneezing, coughing, blowing your nose or using the restroom. In the case of being diagnosed with Covid-19 or show symptoms, immediately notify the DCA by email at dc4arts@downriverarts.org.By registering for this class, you are agreeing to the terms listed above.
