The Austin Group Psychotherapy Society is an interdisciplinary organization of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and counselors who share a mutual commitment to continuing professional development and to excellence in the practice of group psychotherapy.Over the past decade, the Austin Group Psychotherapy Society (AGPS) has gained national recognition for the quality of our training opportunities and the warmth and enthusiasm of our members.AGPS trainings and social events are designed to mentor new professionals and students, expand the knowledge and clinical skills of all members, and enrich and rejuvenate established practitioners.

The Sunday morning consultation group is an informal group in which participants may further explore topical questions and consult on pertinent group/case material from their practices. This is an excellent opportunity to get to know the speaker and obtain individualized feedback. The consultation group is limited to the first 10 people who sign up. Please check the appropriate box on the registration form to attend. 
<IMG STYLE="float: left; margin: 7px;" ALT="Greg MacColl, LCSW" SRC="https://cdn.evbuc.com/eventlogos/165073340/gregmaccollheadshot.jpg" HEIGHT="272" WIDTH="227">Mr. MacColl has been in private practice both in Manhattan & Forest Hills for over 30 years. He is a regular presenter at AGPA, both leading 2-day institute sections and workshops. His focus has been on dealing with the challenging patient. He does this by reflecting on the countertransference issues & induced feelings we all face as professionals. This is in addition to his numerous presentations at EGPS, NSGP and the Westchester Society of Group Psychotherapist. Currently, he is a committee member for the Institute section of AGPA. He served on the Board for EGPS, including his reaching out to the Brooklyn professional community and starting a monthly group consultation. He provides group consultation and individual supervision. He recently led a one-year process group for Mt Sinai Medical Residents, helping them cope with the stressors involved in being an aspiring MD. He has been the guest lecturer at Columbia and NYU School of Social Work, presenting on the benefits of group therapy in dealing with traumatized clients. He is on the Editorial Board of Group, The Journal of the EGPS. He has published articles titled: MacColl, G. (2007) A 9/11 Parent Support Group. International Journal of Group Psychotherapy, 57 (3). MacColl, G. (2014) The Group Therapy Contract Revisited. Group, 38.2, 103-113. *Both of these articles show his influence from Irv Yalom and Lou Ormont’s teachings.
