In this nine week class, students will be encouraged to expand their current abilities in ceramics.

Next Level CeramicsIntermediate/AdvancedSundays 9 am-Noon, January 16 - March 139 week class$405In this class, students will be encouraged to expand their current abilities in ceramics. The instructor will meet with each student to discuss personal goals. Demonstrations utilizing the wheel will include advanced forms such as bottles, lidded jars, and teapots. Demonstrations for hand building techniques will include large-scale construction and template formulation for advanced slab construction. Notes: This class has a $35 supply fee. Students may enroll via Eventbrite or via check or cash by contacting us at centerforcentering(at)gmail.com. A supply list will be sent upon enrolling. We request that masks be worn inside the building for both Covid health and studio material safety. There will be no refunds issued after a week prior to the class starting due preparations made for the class including purchasing materials and paying our teaching artists. For refunds requested prior to a week before the class starts, there is a $50 non-refundable registration fee. ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR: Nicolle LaMere spent the first twenty-five years of life in southern Wisconsin on the fringe of suburbia and farmland. Having received a BFA from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (2011), LaMere relocated to Lubbock, Texas to complete her MFA from Texas Tech University (2017). After graduation, she participated in the Land Art of the American West field study program traveling over 6,000 miles and camping through Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Nevada. She has completed multiple technical ceramic research grants, the most recent being the NCECA Graduate Student Fellowship (2015), and is currently a Fulbright semi-finalist for an Independent Research Grant to Japan. LaMere completed an eleven-month artist residency at The Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, teaches specialty art courses at Art League Houston, and maintains a studio at Box13 ArtSpace.
