Substance Abuse 101

Our goal at Parent University is to educate, partner, and empower parents to raise children who are successful in school, the community, and in life. Virtual workshops are held on a range of topics, such as Positive Youth Development and Surviving Adolescence. A variety of topics are available for families.

Aurora Partners for Thriving Youth

This class will be discussing aspects of youth substance use.

<p>This online course will help parents, caregivers , foster parents and loved ones identify; </p><ul><li>The warning signs and symptoms of youth substance use </li><li>What is  problematic use.  </li><li>Techniques  on how to talk to your child about substance use.   </li><li>Best practices for treating substance use disorders with adolescents</li><li>Community Resources </li><li>Opportunity to ask questions and connect with other caregivers in the community </li></ul><p>Harvey Bowden, II is a Certified Addiction Counselor with 20 years of experience working in treatment programs that help people recover from substance abuse disorders.  Mr. Bowden is also a long time resident of Aurora and is a advocate in the community.   </p>
