TELETHON
Wisconsin
https://telethonband.bandcamp.com/
Telethon is a loud power pop/indie punk/fifth-wave-emo band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They've been around since 2014 and have 5 LPs and one EP out, all mostly revolving around the mundane anxieties of modern living. They're known around their home town for their rambunctious live show and ambitious approach to making albums. Their latest LP "Swim Out Past the Breakers" came out in August 2021. It features sixteen tracks spanning a whole smorgasbord of genres, and a slew of guest musicians -- including the Hold Steady's Franz Nicolay, the Jayhawks' Gary Louris, Future Teens, Oceanator, Chris Farren, and more. As one reviewer put it, "This is pop so powerful it's feeding straight into the electrical grid."
BROKE ROYALS
Washington, DC

In 2014, after both graduating from William & Mary, Colin Cross enlisted Philip Basnight to record a few demos for Cross to shop to potential clients of his recording studio. Their instant musical chemistry in the studio paved the way for a dynamic partnership and, thus, Broke Royals was born. In just three years, Basnight and Cross have honed a singular sound, been praised by Billboard for their "sing-along, arena-ready sound," named an Artist On The Rise by Southwest Airlines, and one of the best live bands in DC by CBS. The duo walked back into the studio for a fourth time to record their self-titled, debut album with producer John Naclerio at his famed Nada Recording Studio in New York. Seamlessly integrating traditional rock with new digital elements, the guitar-driven rock, pop hooks, folk harmonies and Cross’s infectious beats fuse gracefully with Basnight's lyrical narratives. True to the roots of their earliest moments in the studio, Basnight and Cross continue to find new ways to blend inspiration and genres that define their complex modern rock sound.
