<h1>Mental Health in SD</h1><h2>Providing hope for individuals experiencing a mental health challenge</h2><p><strong>Sheri Nelson, MA, LAC, Suicide Prevention Director, Helpline Center</strong></p><p>Sheri Nelson began her undergraduate career at the University of South Dakota and completed her B.S. in Psychology and Addiction Studies. She completed her M.A. in Addiction Studies. As an addiction counselor she worked with at risk youth and their families. She went on to be the Director of a specialized program in which she treated both adult women and adolescent females who were pregnant, parenting, and struggled with addiction and mental health issues. Through her 20+ years of experience she also worked with clients who struggled with suicidal ideation and families who have lost loved ones to suicide. In her role as Suicide Prevention Director, Sheri oversees all suicide services provided at the Helpline Center including suicide prevention outreach, education and trainings and suicide grief support.</p><p></p>
