Echo Hill Farm's Bank Barn, an historic structure,  started as a small log barn structure in the mid-1700's. Through the years it was a working dairy farm until pasteurized milk in the mid 1950's.  It then became a horse farm knows as  The Squire Equestrian Center and 40 years ago, the horses turned into horsepower stored in the barn.Today, 2020, for the first time in over 250 years, the barn was open, by appointment, as The Barn Shop & Art Gallery, where everything old is new again,  helping to downsize our antiques and collections over 50 years of treasure hunting.  With plenty of room to social distance, it's an ideal location for intimate team building, children's activities, art workshops, field yoga and more but we are currently restricted and  pre-registration private appointments are needed.  All activities help in the preservation of this historic barn for future generations.From Washington to Wyeth, Echo Hill Farm is located in the immediate vicinity of many of our nation’s historic events and markers on trails of The Lenni Lenape Indians, The American Revolutionary War’s Battle of Brandywine, The Dilworthtown Tavern, The Hospital for General George Washington’s soldiers, The 1st United States Post Office, The Underground Railroad and Jill Clayburgh.  There is an historical prospectus of the ‘neighborhood’ structures surrounding Echo Hill Farm from across the street to only a few miles away. Delaware County, Chester County borders did not exist at the time.1687 The William Penn Years & Lenni Lenape Indians Origins: Thornbury Township was organized and only six families were living in the township.  The Lenni Lenape Indians were the inhabitants of this area. One of the earliest and most influential residents was George Pearce, who came from England with William Penn in 1682. Penn gave Pearce about 1,000 acres and the privilege of naming the township. Pearce named the township Thornbury after his wife’s family’s estate in Gloucester, England. The English settlers in Thornbury Township were principally interested in agriculture and agriculturally-related industries and remained a rural agricultural community until the mid 1950’s. The township was well suited for agriculture with its gently rolling hills, fertile soils and abundance of water, mild climate and access to large market.Echo Hill Farm seeks the talents of Carpenters, Painters, Volunteers, Artists, Authors, Instructors, Estate Pieces & Professionals. Echo Hill Farm Presents ~ Family Photo's with Santa Claus &amp; The North Pole Experience Pre-Registration Required - Reserve your Friday, Saturday or Sunday Time for Family Photos with Santa - inside or outside locations . Photo Sessions are 10 minutes - choose your 30 minute time span on the registration form. Expect to be here approximately an hour. There will be Children's activities &amp; more for your enjoyment.Due to Covid guidelines, a limited number of sessions will be available and restrooms are not available at this time. Please note, children are to be under the supervision of adults at all times on the property. NO PETS . Pet photos are scheduled under a separate listing for Dec. 21, 22, 23. Please note: Special accommodations can be made for large families or groups , call 610 566 4883.Enjoy Christmas Carols and North Pole Activities while preparing for your family's photo Echo Hill Farm will provide a pre-arranged 10 minute photo shoot with our Victorian, real bearded, Santa Claus. Santa's North Pole assistant will be assigned to use up to 2 of your devices. Using your digital cameras or phones allow you to have multiple images that are immediately at your disposal with no watermarks.Echo Hill Farm is decorated for Christmas with an inside and various outside locations for Photo's with Santa. While at Echo Hill Farm you and your family can take part in our North Pole Activities. We ask that children be under your supervision while on the property activities. Santa's Mailbox Bring a letter from home, or write one here to place in our mailbox. We'll deliver mail regularly to Santa Claus.Create Crafts at Santa's Work Table With treasures of gems, shells, pine cones, sparkles and more, parents, grandparents, aunts or uncles can assist children making crafts to take home. Santa's work table is located outside with supplies. There are various locations on the property to work on the crafts you select. This activity is included in the registration fee.S'More &amp; more You bring the food supplies for S'mores and we'll provide the Fire Pit and Sticks. Adults must supervise their children for this activity. Due to weather conditions or more, this activity may not be available. S'mores packages may also be available for purchase.Holiday Christmas Carols and A Field of Fun with Hoola Hoops With sanitizing spray available and plenty of room to social distance in the field, we'll provide Hoola Hoops for your use while on the property. Return them upon leaving.. Following your registration, you will be assigned a time line for your family photo. Upon arrival, you may choose your photo picture with Santa, inside or outside the barn. If time permits, you may have the opportunity for both inside and outside photos.During the actual photo, families can decide: masks-on, or, masks-off. Santa will wear a clear plexiglass shield with or without mask . Family's may decide at session if they prefer with, or without, shield/mask. DRESS Warm - Built in the 1750's. Echo Hill Farm is a wonderful property to enjoy and explore outside. So, dress warm because there is no heat inside a 250+ year old barn except the wonderful rays of sunshine and wear comfortable shoes.RAIN - While a little snow gives Echo Hill Farm a nice glow, Mother Nature's RAIN isn't our friend. If we have to cancel your photo session due to Rain, you will receive a full refund or may choose another date.Restroom Facilities - Due to COVID. there are no port-a-potties on the property. With the barn over 250 years old, there is no indoor plumbing for restrooms. Hopefully our future fundraising efforts will change that.
