Land Cruise to Washington, DC

Founded in 1985, we are a social group of sailors and power boaters on the York River near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. Sponsors of the York River Cup!  Our membership is made up of boaters from a number of area marinas, including York River Yacht Haven, Crown Pointe Marina and Wormley Creek Marina.

Please join the club for an AMTRAK trip to Alexandria/Washington DC for February 25-27. Bring a cooler, snacks and beverage(s) to have Commodores Happy Hour on the train! If you are local to DC, please join us for this club event. Members that live further west of Richmond, there are also trains that run from Lynchburg/Charlottesville. Update as of 1/14/2022: Amtrak has canceled 3 trains until March 27th departing in the afternoon from Williamsburg. Trains through Richmond and points west remain unaffected at this time. So, members from the Hampton Roads area will coordinate a car pool to the Staples Mill Road Station in Richmond. We will try to arrange one train car where we can all be together starting in Williamsburg. Hotel discounted block will be at Embassy Suites Alexandria Old Town; 1900 Diagonal Rd, Alexandria, VA 22314; (703) 684-5900PACKAGE Rate: $155/night, includes breakfast and managers happy hour 5:30 to 7 PM. There are other hotels if you prefer, but this is right off the AMTRAK train station and Metro station in Alexandria. Weekend Metropass is roughly $15 per person which covers metro and bus lines anywhere in the DC area.We will try to pre arrange travel if we have a group large enough to do so, like going to Mount Vernon. Attendees will purchase their own train tickets (www.amtrak.com) ,hotel accommodations and potential ground transportation based on group interest.Registration via EventBrite: There is a $10/person charge for the club trip which will go toward this year&#x27;s club cruise expenses.Registration Deadline is February 15.
