 The day-long Immersive Tech Summit will include Industry leaders and experts in immersive tech presenting cutting-edge case studies, workshops and demos exploring virtual, augmented and mixed reality conceptualization, production & post-production, branding & marketing case studies, trends, best practices & standards, and market adoption. 
In partnership with 2112, VR/AR Association will present “209 Ways Organizations are using VR/AR.” the talk presented by Alan Smithson will touch on the myriad of ways Virtual, Mixed and Augmented Reality (XR) are being used outside of gaming and entertainment. Ranging from healthcare, construction, design and remote collaboration, and marketing and training, immersive technologies will revolutionize how we compute and communicate in business over the next 20 years.
Smithson is the CEO of MetaVRse, North America’s leading virtual and augmented reality product development company focused on the intersection of VR/AR/3D and e-Commerce. The company was named Top 100 Rising Startups by Techweek and was nominated for Global VR Startup of the year by VR Awards.
2112 Immersive Tech Summit kicks off with <A HREF="https://www.eventbrite.com/e/everyone-can-create-challenge-tickets-51258699149" TARGET="_blank" REL="noopener noreferrer">Everyone Can Create Challenge</A>, a hands-on workshop led by Apple on Friday, October 19, 12:30 - 3:30 pm. and continues with presentations, demos and workshops by industry leaders and experts presenting cutting-edge case studies, workshops and demos exploring virtual, augmented and mixed reality conceptualization, production & post-production, branding & marketing case studies, trends, best practices & standards, and market adoption. The summit will also include an Immersive Cinema Showcase Co-presented with the 54th Chicago International Film Festival.

Emmy Award winning Creative Director Alexander Mejia will talk about how he created Virtual Avatars you can have a conversation within the 2X VR Awards nominated STARSHIP COMMANDER.   Learn about this new and exciting frontier of AI driven conversation, and the challenges in building a system to be ready for consumer use. 
11 - 11:45 am: Esports Now: A Technology-Driven Industry
Esports is one of the most explosive industries in America. Professional esports leagues are popping up, esports arenas are being built on college campuses and even high schools are fielding varsity esports teams. While many discussions center on the proliferation of the industry as a whole, our panelists will discuss the technology that is driving the industry forward. Moderated by Quen Whitehead/Esports Now

From corporations like Live Nation and AEG to startups like TheWaveVR, companies of all sizes have tried to build their own virtual- and augmented-reality applications for music, including "backstage" experiences at festivals and self-serve DJ sets with custom 360-degree visuals. But nearly none of these applications are actually bringing in revenue, demonstrating a tangible return on investment for developers or offering a consumer experience that is truly unique to the VR medium. Is that all VR is going to be for the music industry—a loss-leading strategic marketing tool just to beef up perceptions in the press? Or are there tangible business cases for musical VR applications that we haven't tapped into yet? What levers do we need to pull to move music and VR from just a loose experiment to a sustainable platform with meaningful profits? This presentation will try to unpack this question with a combination of quantitative analyses and projections and compelling case studies from other industries in entertainment and beyond.

Brands around the world are embracing XR to bring incredible immersive experiences to consumers.
11 am Visualizing and Simulating Realistic Lighting Products in VR VIATechnik / Anton Dy Buncio
Learn how to utilize virtual reality to test lighting fixtures and properties in various types of projects from interior fit-outs to existing spaces. VR technology enables both designers and clients to visualize the space and simulate multiple lighting options. The workshop will share a workflow to replicate lighting properties in VR that match the actual product, as well as potential limitations in using VR.

Patrick will demo Patched Reality’s “Whizzy Wig Rabbits” iOS app, a winner of the  <A HREF="http://6d.ai/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">6D.ai</A> <A HREF="https://bit.ly/2R50QKX" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">6Demo-God Challenge</A>, and talk about the importance of real-world occlusion for AR realism. The demo will show off real-time meshing of a space, occlusion of virtual objects by real-world objects, speech to text object creation, and a virtual rabbit that can navigate the real world.

Dispatch Dir. Edward Robles (United States) Run Time 28 minutes
From Chicago writer-director Edward Robles comes this intense, four-part crime thriller about a small-town police dispatcher named Ted. What begins as a routine night of calls quickly escalates into a series of violent attacks. Unfolding in Ted’s imagination, Dispatch uniquely combines vector graphics and layered soundscapes—of terrified callers and Ted’s attempts to help—into an engrossing VR noir.
The Great C Dir. Steve Miller (Canada) Run Time 37 minutes
Inspired by Philip K. Dick’s short story, this postapocalyptic animated fable imagines a world ruled over by an all-powerful A.I. known as “The Great C.” Each year, one villager is sent on a pilgrimage to appease the omnipotent supercomputer—but never returns. With impressively rendered, multi-dimensional CGI environments, this sci-fi adventure envelops the viewer in a haunting and fantastical new world.
Spheres: Pale Blue Dot Dir. Eliza McNitt (France, United States) Run Time 15 minutes
Narrated by singer-songwriter Patti Smith, this cosmic journey takes viewers on a phantasmagoric trip into space and through time, from the Big Bang to the formation of the first gaseous planets to our own “pale blue dot,” all the while tracing the history of sound across the universe. But will there always be someone to hear it?
Vestige Dir. Aaron Bradbury (United States, France) Run Time 12 minutes
This absorbing study of grief enters the mind of Lisa Elin, a woman dealing with the death of her husband, Erik. Digital fragments of their happy life together appear inside a void and eventually become entangled with haunting visions of her loss. Made in collaboration with the real Lisa Elin, Vestige is a deeply empathic experience—of memory and personal tragedy.
